You Don’t Need External Recognition to Be a Good Blogger

the word blog repeated around a globe

I think it’s part of the blogging package deal that sometimes insecurities will creep up. With stats being so in your face, it’s hard not to get caught up in them sometimes. It can also be intimidating to come across bloggers who’ve won awards, have high follower counts, or get loads of likes/comments, and you might start wondering what’s wrong with you and your blog that you’re not managing to keep up.

Well, I’m here to tell you that you don’t need any sort of external recognition to be a good blogger. If you’re still posting on your blog and putting your words out there into the world, you’re doing a good job. The quality of your blog is only a small factor in the number of visitors you get. You can only have one person reading your blog and that doesn’t mean you’re a lousy blogger.

So, in this week’s blogging chat, I invite you to share some of the things that intimidate you or make you feel like you’re not a very good blogger. I suspect there’s a lot we all have in common because, as I said, insecurity is part of the package deal. And if you’ve managed to opt out of that particular part of the package, please share how you’ve managed that feat.

  1. I agreed a lot – as in total agreement with this post. Intimidation and insecurity can be possible factor, however, what intimidates someone like me as an aspiring blogger is laziness and about insecurity, it is okay to have few of readers in a certain site.

Blogging requires different experiences. As long as we experience more, then we can write more but if we worry about the statistics, then there might be a problem to our process. A process of blogging has given us opportunity to write down in order for us to share and inspire. We are not obliged to impress our readers.

Thank you for this post 😍

  2. Great topic….! I do sometimes get caught up in the numbers. I only have about 500 followers. Mostly I am OK with this but I do sometimes wonder what it takes to get to 5,000 or 10,000 followers. ? Like how many years of blogging or how many posts a week? Not that I am ready to do that quite now — just curious.

    1. I’m at 10,000 and I’ve been blogging pretty much daily for 4 1/2 years. I found that I started gaining followers more quickly once I hit 1000 or so, which I think has to do with how the WordPress algorithm works. I also found that the higher my follower count got, the less meaningful that number got. A huge chunk of my followers are most likely bots, and there’s a sizeable chunk of people who read my blog years ago but are no longer active in the blogosphere. Less than 1% of my followers actually my read my blog currently.

  3. I’ve been blogging since the end of December and there are two things that I worry about the most: running out of things to right about (so far so good) and being inauthentic. When I’m having a bad day or even a tough moment, I have a tendency to scold myself because of the types of things that I write about. When I realize that I’m doing, I have to do a little positive self talk and get back on track.

  4. i wonder how can someone became so much consistent about his work….. loved your posts😊😊😊 thanks to entertain us
Please also check my page hope you all will love it❤❤💙

  5. Sometimes it’s difficult to overlook especially when you see new blogs getting more readers and engagement than your. But you can easily overlook, just put in the work, one day, you will get your flowers 🌼
