Mental health begins at home – Your home base, your centre, your place of strength and support.
Welcome to Mental Health @ Home!
This blog takes a no-holds-barred look at a variety of issues related to mental health, drawing on my dual perspectives as a mental health nurse and person living with major depressive disorder. My aim is to raise awareness about mental illness and create a community where people can feel comfortable speaking openly about mental health.
Under the Blog menu above is a breakdown of some of the recurring series/themes on MH@H. Every week I feature guest bloggers who are early in their blogging evolution in my emerging blogger series; check out the series directory for more info. If you’re interested in participating, I would love to hear from you!
I post weekly mental health book reviews, and I especially enjoy reviewing books by fellow bloggers. Please get in touch if you have a book you’d like me to consider.
Besides this blog I write on a number of other platforms; you can find out more in the About section, which includes my Writing portfolio. I’ve also written a book, Psych Meds Made Simple: How & Why They Do What They Do by Ashley L. Peterson.
I’m a strong believer in speaking up against stigma, and in educating ourselves so we can make the best possible choices. Together, we’re a force to be reckoned with. Let’s Stop Stigma! I’m excited to have you join me on this journey!
I’m a contributor to the upcoming book The Silent Scream, a project by Maria Alfieri to raise funds for mental health charities. To be released on Global Mental Day, October 10/19.
