Weekend Wrap-Up

Here’s what happened in my life over the past week:

  • Thanks so much to Valerie at Tiny Couch for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award and to Meg at Where Good Advice Happens for nominating me for the Dazzling Blogger Award!
  • WordPress has been doing the random unfollowing thing again – it unfollowed me from two different people (that I know of) this past week. Possibly more people, as my Reader feed seems exceptionally slow this week.
  • I decided I wanted to play around with how my site looks. My theme is annoying when it comes to fonts. I can pick the fonts that I want, but as the page is loading, it will momentarily switch to the theme’s default font before switching back to the font I want. This can cause a things dancing across the page effect, which Google doesn’t like, but more importantly, I don’t like. Bad theme!
  • I’ve got an appointment book for my first COVID vaccine next week. Canada’s been slow getting people vaccinated, and in my province, it’s just opened up for my age group.
  • The antibiotic has taken care of the pneumonia, which is good. This morning was the first time I ventured out into the world in almost three weeks.
  • It’s been remarkably difficult to get guinea pig stuff delivered over the last few months. This week I had an order that Doordash just ditched outside my building without attempting to call/buzz me. How is it that Amazon does delivery so well, but other people, not so much?

Workers came by this week to clean the dryer ducts. The clothes dryer lives in the bathroom, which is where the boys live. It scared the bejeezus out of them, and here’s Butternut hiding in the house wondering if it’s safe to come out yet.

How has your week been?

  1. I’ve had a lot of deliveries left in front of my door without knocking or ringing the doorbell. It’s annoying because if I didn’t hear them coming up the steps, I don’t know it’s there. I don’t always get the message from the delivery app saying it’s been delivered, either. So I wait as my food gets cold outside. Instant thumbs down on the driver.

  2. Vaccine twinsies. This, after my rage about the dysfunction in the online system that kept preventing me from registering. I’d decided to forgo and live as a hermit, but I called in resignation once I calmed down. I did lodge a complaint. Ditto with TD and their absolutely revolting phone menu.

I went to ER this week after an escalation in symptoms and got a CT scan Wednesday instead of August. Which is good, because I was starting to hit despair.

I’m very glad the antibiotics have taken hold. Lack of breath is brutal. Sucks about the delivery too. It IS hard not to take it personally.

    1. The vaccine registration system was weird. It didn’t show anything as being available until I happened to randomly click on a particular date.

That’s good that you got the CT done.

  3. Re: vax side effects. They do suck, but I feel that with what you have been through recently, you are well positioned to handle any side effects like a champ. As a bonus there is typically no coughing whatever else may happen.

  4. You’re a real trooper! I keep forgetting you’ve had pneumonia lately because you quit mentioning it! If I were that sick, it would wind up in my blog every single day. (Not that there’s really anything wrong with that.) I’m a terrible sick person, so I truly admire your only speaking of it casually even though it’s been your reality for weeks! Tota props! And I’m super glad you’re finally on the mend!

I regret getting the vaccine when I did because apparently there are now prizes for getting the vaccine. Like, in my country people are being bribed to get vaccinated. I should’ve waited! 😀 Oh well.

Aww, Butternut, won’t you come out to play?

My week has been… trying to remember… well, I’ve been trying to eat more canned foods and less junk foods. It’s been hit and miss, trying to find a happy medium. Yesterday I had insane carb cravings all freakin’ day, but today I’ve only eaten some canned peaches, and I’m feeling fine–no cravings. I’ve got to figure out how to tackle the cravings! I woke up ready to eat more canned food, so that’s good. It all must be a work in progress. And I’ve been to the gym a lot but I’ve had some serious fatigue. I’ve been oversleeping and just feeling drained. There are a lot of possible factors. There’s a metal plate in the road that the water company hasn’t removed yet. I keep hearing THUNK-THUNK all night. I really need to get some storm windows up here for soundproofing. Even without the plate, I can hear everything up here.

Let’s have a great week next week! YAY! 🙂

  5. Well not a bad week all-in-all…One of the perks in my building is the front desk clerk, or as they say in fancy-town, concierge. The desk person signs for all packages and then I get an email telling me I have a package, food delivery is pretty good, they get cleared at the front desk and then they always knock. Text notices are very prompt so I’m pretty happy with all the delivery services. But yes, doordash does suck – if I order from Popeye’s (don’t judge) it could be any delivery service and the one time it was doordash the guy just left the food at my apartment door, didn’t knock and I didn’t get a notice – luckily I was pacing waiting for it and heard something in the hallway…

    1. It seems weird that they wouldn’t bother to knock, knowing that little lack of action makes it more likely that the customer will complain.

  6. I’m so glad that you’re feeling better! Nothing too remarkable happened in my world this week… I’m getting new floors installed haha!

  7. Which province are you from?! I booked my vaccine appointment for next week too (I’m in Ontario). Btw, love your weekend wrap up series 🧡 I find them so interesting! Love to see what other ppl have been doing during pandemic.

    1. Thanks! I’m in BC. Things aren’t quite as bad here as in Ontario, but hopefully once more people are vaccinated we’ll have a better summer!

  8. I hate it when deliveries get left in front of the house… when I’m home to receive them lol.

Congratulations on your achievements and for arranging your first dose of the vaccine. I’m also in Canada and will be getting mine soon too.

  9. I quite like the colours to either side of the blog on desktop. Fonts and design have always irritated me with my blog because I can never get things how I’d like them.

Hurrah for the vaccination! I hope Canada gets a steady supply in to enable them to pick up the pace a little. Fingers crossed yours goes smoothly with minimal side-effects xx

  10. Congrats on the vaccine! I’m sorry to hear about the pneumonia, ugh! I’m glad that’s getting better now.

I don’t know if you changed the pink-ish, marble-y, flower-petal-y border on your site, or if I’m just noticing it now, but I like it! 🙂
