Christmas is a great day for lounging around in pyjamas (ok, every day is great for that), sipping lots of tea/coffee/eggnog.
Some of us are probably spending Christmas alone this year, so how about we watch some Christmas movie clips together?
I’ll start with National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. This was the only movie of the National Lampoon franchise that I ever saw, but it’s fun and oh so ridiculous. It contained Julia Louis-Dreyfus pre-Seinfeld, Randy Quaid before he went off the deep end, and a cantankerous squirrel.
I was a bit disappointed by the video clips I could find online. The best of the bunch was the original movie trailer.
Feel free to share your own favourites in the comments, including a Youtube link if you’d like.
Woo hoo!! I watched the Christmas Lampoon movie many years ago and thought it was freakalutin’ hilarious. I just feel sorry for the cat! π
My fave movies are Home Alone and The Family Stone. In Home Alone, I love when Kevin mouths, “Keep the change, ya filthy animal.” π HA HA HA HA. I also love Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, which I’d love to rewatch. It had great Christmas short cartoons with Mickey and the others. Like there’s one where Goofy Dog’s son Max comes home from college and is ashamed of his dad because he’s goofy, and his dad keeps calling him Maxie, and he’s like, “It’s Max, Dad.” And he brought his girlfriend, also a dog, and he’s embarrassed by his dad’s over-enthusiasm. It’s so adorable. It has loads of great cartoons like that one!
I’ve never seen, or even heard of, Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas.
I happened to catch it on Disney many years ago on Christmas and I fell in love with it! It’s soooo adorable. It can be rented through Amazon Home Video!! If you ever watch it, report back!!
π
Every year my favorites change for Christmas movies. Thid year I am partial to Home Alone 2 and, Polar Express. Great post Ashley Leia!! Thank you sharing festive cheer.π²β€π

I own two boxes of Christmas films — I am obsessed with them, especially the many versions of “The Christmas Carol.”
My favorites encompass all of the titles mentioned above and:
Fred Claus
Love Actually
Noel
Scrooged
The Best Man Holiday
The Christmas Story
Just to name a few! π
I would always insist on Christmas Carol on Christmas eve; there was always one of the versions on tv that night.
Us, too. My Dad’s favorite was the George C. Scott rendition, and I honor that tradition every year! π€
My mom’s favourite was the Alistair Sim version, and that became my favourite as well.
I’m going to have to look that one up. I don’t think I’ve seen it! *Gasp!* The horror! π
My personal favorite is The Muppet Christmas Carol, because… well, I’m just not grown yet! π€£
Awww…
This is totally my favorite! I would have said this one in the comment section right at the bottom.
Cool!
Hi… Pardon the interruption. I cannot like your posts. Ugh! But i read and liked them. Not sure why they are not coming into the reader feed?
Christmas movies… lots of good ones. I agree. Watched a new 1940 colorized version of Beyond Christmas and it was pretty good. I was tired of watching Its a Wonderful Life, even though its still my all time favorite. Plus I enjoy The Snowman and Charlie Brown Christmas.
Argh, WordPress gremlins!
Gotta love Charlie Brown Christmas.

Awesome! I look forward to seeing the transformation! Very cool! π«
So sadly, the Beeb don’t seem to be showing it this year, but almost every Christmas/New Year’s they show my favourite film of all time!!!!!!!!
Here is a clip for anyone wondering what my favourite movie is:
https://youtu.be/jITsImZdlMQ
That doesn’t surprise me at all!
I like Singing In The Rain too – that was on today so I watched it. I also love My Fair Lady, but I don’t think the Beeb are showing it this year.
Channel 5 showed the musical Oliver!, but it is all a little sad for me towards the end.
I haven’t actually seen any of those before.
They are perfect for sitting curled up in your PJs under a blanket on a winter afternoon – such wonderful movies!
Cool!
I just had the most amazing surprise! I thought the BBC had decided not to show “The Sound Of Music” this year. I was wrong! I just found it on the scheduling for tomorrow evening.
You should see the size of the smile on my face right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s wonderful!!!!
βYouβll shoot your eye outβ βa Christmas story
βThose arenβt pillows!β Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Don’t call me Shirley!
“The Bishop’s Wife” 1947 – Cary Grant, Loretta Young, David Niven – I watch this any time I get a chance. https://youtu.be/OzRUZYI8XdU
Oh that’s lovely!
I’ll admit that I did enjoy the film (animated) Polar Express.
Nice!
Home Alone movies have been a regular thing for me one time when I used to own a tv, as well as Miracle 34th Street. A Christmas Carol would be one I’d watch each year too.
I would also watch many Christmas movies that would come on tv on a particular channel. Odd ones may have been a bit cheesy, but lovely warm type feel all the same, when watching.
I watch many dvd’s now as you know and I have seen Polar Express. I love that film. But don’t have my own copy.
I have though a film called New Year Eve’s. I have seen quite a few times and will be watching again soon.
I hadn’t heard of New Year’s Eve before, but I just watched the trailer on IMDB. It looks fun, and it’s got a lot of big name people in it.
Bon Jovi is in this film, as well as some other familar actors/actresses.
I certainly have laughed, as well as cried with this film.
Always nice when a movie can make you do both.
Yes.
On Christmas Eve, Len and I along with Charlie (our sheep dog) watched the 1970 “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”. It was a journey back in time for both of us. So much funπ€.
That’s fabulous!
