Weekend Wrap-Up

Weekend wrap-up

wrapping paper, ribbon, and twine

Here’s what happened in my life over the past week:

  • Thanks so much to Kacha of Food.for.Thoughts for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award.  A big thanks also to Tanya of Divinely Bipolar for nominating me for the Real Neat Blog Award.
  • When I got up Monday morning, I found my little Peanut potato sitting on the floor beside the cage rather than in it.  He knows he can jump into the cage, but he’s never jumped out before, even though the door’s always open.  Judging by the amount of poop (which is actually a pretty reliable measuring tool), he wasn’t there for very long.  Funny little boy, finding his brave.  Yesterday, the boys were having their afternoon playtime on my bed, and in Butternut’s quest to get as near to the edge of the bed as possible to get closer to the girls’ cage, he managed to fall off the edge.  Such a doofus.  He then ran under the bed, and I had to use Casper as bait to lure him out from under there.
  • It’s been a particularly slow brain week, so not much original thought going on, but I have gotten a lot of mindless maintenance tasks done on the blog.
  • In the last couple of days, I’ve been having some respiratory issues.  I’m inclined to think it’s not COVID, in part because it’s unlikely that I’ve been exposed, but also because it feels like the recurring issues I’ve been having for several years.  Anyway, I’ll talk to my doctor on Monday and come up with a plan.
  • It’s been six weeks since the sinusitis snot monster first ventured forth from my nose to engulf my entire face.  That fucker is still there.  The consistency has changed, but it’s still gluey.  It’s clear, so you can’t really see it, but you can feel it.  I’ve tried attacking it with everything from face masks to sandpaper, but the stupid thing is like that liquid metal Terminator; it can slide around things, and it just keeps on going.  I’m so not impressed.

As guests on my blog this week, I had:

  1. Death to the sinus monster! My sinus issues feel much better today, so I’m hopeful that I haven’t caught the full-blown illness from you! πŸ˜€ She’s spreading contagion from Canada, everyone.

Awww, your guinea pigs are inventive and like to play! Cute guineas!!

Keep us posted about what your doctor says!!

My week has been great! As usual, I don’t recall much of it, but I did change the lightbulb in the shower this morning. I’m painting the back panel of an old bookshelf, because I put shelf paper on it, but it didn’t adhere. Came off. So time for paint! It will be pink, neon green (pistachio), and ivory!!

  2. Telehealth session Monday or phone call to doctor? Yesterday, we got scheduled for β€œmed maintenance” in June via an app we never heard of. It has almost exclusively 1-star reviews.

Hope they can help you. πŸ’•

    1. Oh my, that app doesn’t sound good. I’ll be talking to my doctor by phone, although he is still seeing people in office for thing that can’t be done by phone.

    1. My sinuses are actually doing ok on the inside. It’s just this leftover snot layer on the outside of my face that’s driving me bonkers.

  3. I do hope you feel better really soon, Ashley. My allergies are off kilter and I go through tissues like nothing. I too doubt it’s Covid related, but I still take meds to decrease the snot monster from engulfing my brain.
Have fun with your little furry friends. They are just so darn adorable and I’m glad you have them there around you to keep you entertained.

  4. Peanut sounds so funny. πŸ™‚
I hope the respiratory stuff won’t be lingering for too long for you and that you can deal with it successfully. πŸ™‚

  5. I hope it all clears up, not only the snot! It can take a while to get rid of such a monster completely. I rinse with salt water and like to steam my face. But there is only so much you can do, I relate to being driven crazy by that condition.
I laughed so hard by imagining you with Casper to lure the other one out!

  6. Congrats on your very well-deserved awards Ashely. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks over in Kent with the grandchildren and the weekend was spent helping them plant strawberries, new plants and lots of herbs in their new garden (they moved recently). They have every toy imaginable so the garden looks like a cross between a park and a funfair – but they still want us to watch and play lol.

So — apart from being in pain and spending time with the kids, I’ve done nothing! I haven’t even been able to look at my blog or anyone else’s πŸ™‚ I’m trying to get some time in to do it today. At least you’ve been able to get some maintenance done lol.

Wishing you better soon πŸ™‚ Caz x
