The emerging blogger series is aimed at community building through giving mental health bloggers who are early in their blogging evolution the opportunity to have their work seen by a wider audience. It’s also a way to introduce you as a reader to some newer members of our community.
This post is by Heather of The Anxiety Diva.
I needed an antipsychotic to get through the pandemic
Like most people my anxiety was taken to new levels during this pandemic. I could not focus and felt like my head was going to explode with all the anxious thoughts I was having. I have already been on almost every antidepressant on the market and finally found one that was working for my generalized anxiety disorder until the world went on quarantine and everything I thought I knew was turned upside down. I thought I had everything under control but soon realized everything was spinning and it was spinning fast out of control. I talked to my doctor and realized that a change was needed with my meds. She recommended adding an antipsychotic to my current regimen. I am always really nervous about starting a new medication but after taking the new medication for a few days I started to feel such wonderful relief. I felt that even though the world was still in shambles, I started to feel so much better and very creative! I actually decided to start my blog The Anxiety Diva after about a week on this new medication.
I felt that I was supposed to be writing about my struggles and what helps me through tough times. My goal is to help people realize that it is okay if you need medication for your mental health and it’s also okay if you don’t. I want everyone to know who reads my blog that they aren’t alone in their journey. Come follow me on my journey at theanxietydiva.com.
Thank you so much for reading!
