Weekend Wrap-Up

Weekend wrap-up

wrapping paper, ribbon, and twine

Here’s what happened in my life over the past week:

  • Thanks to Rory from A Guy Called Bloke for gifting me a compliment this week for my post What is… Herd Behaviour.
  • My week was dominated by a sinus infection.  The snot monster I mentioned last week expanded its facial footprint to encompass and enter mouth, eyes, and even ears.  I haven’t been able to get rid of it despite using as many strategies as I could think of, and it’s left me just wanting to cry with frustration.
  • I’ve been spending about 12 hours in bed a night plus a mid-day rest period, and it’s been odd where my mind has wandered during the resting but not sleeping time.
  • My home is very dirty at the moment.  Perhaps in the coming week I’ll start caring, perhaps not.  I’ve also managed to kill a couple of plants this past week.
  • I haven’t done much writing this week.  I’ve been feeling a bit blah in terms of the blog, and I think part of it may be that I haven’t decided how I want to approach blogging given the world being turned upside down.
  • Early Monday morning someone entered the front door of my building (I haven’t heard how) and broke into the mailboxes.  Who knows what ended up getting taken.  I’m prepared to have compassion for I-need-to-feed-my-family-theft, but I don’t see that being the case here, and it just leaves me shaking my head and wondering what the hell is wrong with people.

How has your week been?

  1. I hope your sinus infection improves. I know it can be painful from others I have known that get it often and bad.
How strange regarding your buildings mailboxes. I hope nothing of importance has gone missing and it’s been reported.

My week has gone as ok as it can get while in a lockdown. I go out when it’s just work, or for groceries.

      1. I imagine it may be hard to find whoever done this. But it’s good it was reported in case it happens again anywhere.

  2. Aww, Ashley… I’m so sorry to hear that you have been sick all week. Rest is your best bet. Drink plenty of tea and just plain rest.
Some people turn to desperate and/or deceiving matters during tough times. I hope nothing of value was stolen.
I’m just finishing up the blanket I’ve been working on and looking forward to being back here within the week. I have missed all of you so much.
I truly hope you start to feel better real soon. Take care of yourself. 💖

  3. My sympathies on the sinus infection. Those are so annoying. I suffered for 6 months in 2005 until my doc tried penicillin even tho I was supposedly allergic as a baby. All was fine & it did the trick! Six months gahhh.

I hear you on the blog. Mine has been light too. Take care ❤️

  4. This week was pretty tough for me. My white blood cell counts were tested low so there was a possibility that I would have to go off the meds which have been largely therapuetic for me for 12 years. Ended up that my white blood cell count is rising so no need to change meds. I am truly grateful for this. I too have been sleeping alot and resting alot in order to mend.

  5. So sorry about your sinus infection! When I had one, it lasted two or three weeks. There’s just no way around it. I hope you’re nurturing yourself with sherbet floats!! I like them with rainbow sherbet and Sprite!! They’re my go-to when I have an illness!

My week has been pretty darned good, since I got the contest results and made a rainbow media center and enjoyed the coming of springtime weather!! It’s all been quite pleasant!

  6. Oh noo, that sinus infection sounds bad, I’m sorry you still have it.
It’s good you’re resting a lot. I like how it’s possible think about so many things while in bed and get so many ideas that are completely out there. On the other hand I tend to ruminate a lot in bed so I also don’t like it, haha.
That’s strange and concerning with the mail boxes. Hope nothing valuable was stolen and that it won’t happen again.

  7. People are just plain dumb. Haha. And, I am aware of the pandemic and how much of a crisis that seems to be, but I don’t write much about it. I have other things I prefer to do! Just my two cents.

  8. Ugh to snot monster
Boo! to stealing mail. Hopefully it was all Tim Hortons coupon’s
Think of all the people who didn’t steal your mail this week? 🙄
Love for you, whether you are slovenly or sparkling, caked in boogers or glistening ❤️

  9. I remember one time someone stole things from my parents trash. The used it to open an account under their name. I hope you are feeling much better today. I am in the same situation as you. My place isn’t clean and I don’t have the energy to clean it. Only small things like cleaning garbage and dishes is all I do. You will figure out where to go with your blog soon

  10. Sinus infections are the worst and you sound like you’ve had a bad run. Your house will be fine dirty for a while. Mine has survived! It sounds like you need the sleep and the rest and being ill will demotivate you so the writing can wait. I hope you feel better very soon. X

  11. What a week! Mailboxes ruined, snot all over and blogging world upside down. I feel for you! I hope the snot monster decides to leave you asap! As for blogging, I hope it will go back to normal as the ‘panic’ over the pandemic subsides. For me it still feels that something has changed but I doesn’t feel that strange anymore, sometimes it feels a little more ‘normal’ so I hope that this trend continues. I am also trying to figure out how to continue. The big question for me was ‘what to blog about when the world has 1 topic on its mind?’ Does everything else falls into nothingness? I found out that I enjoyed blogging on lighter topics.

For me, I push myself to adapt to the living together situation as good a possible. Still managed to get myself get trapped into ‘being too good’, wanted to do everything. This ends up with feeling exhausted and falling asleep midday on the couch. Still struggling with finding me-time. 🙄 The part of ‘together’ is very nice and romantic but the ‘me’ in ‘we’ feels neglected. Wich is a pattern for me, so same old same old. But I hope I will learn!!!!!

  12. I hope the snot bug leaves you soon! I feel like my world has turned upside down, and I’m just sleeping tons despite wanting to be productive.

  13. Sorry to hear you’re still sick. I hope you’re not being hard on yourself about all you haven’t done. You should focus on getting better, everything else can wait xxx
