The emerging blogger series is aimed at community building by giving mental health bloggers who are early in their blogging evolution the opportunity to have their work seen by a wider audience. It’s also a way to introduce readers to some newer members of our community.

Love, Hope, and Kindness
Today I am writing in the emerging blogger to introduce you all to me. My name is Lisa. I do have a website that you can follow me at Living in Health.
I have suffered with Mental Health for a lot of years. It was depression when I was a kid. A couple of years after starting a family it all came back ten-fold. For a lot of years it was seen as severe depression. I spent a lot of years in and out of mental health floors of hospitals. At one point I got kidney stones and opioids were introduced. For me that sent me down a road that I won’t soon forget. I never had to feel anything again I thought. Drug addiction for me continued for 2 decades. I came very close to losing everything.
Today I have been in recovery for 2 years and belong to NA. I have been married for 27years and have one child. My life is taking on a new turn. I have bi-polar along with severe depression. It is treated with medication along with ECT treatments every 8 weeks. We are in the process of trying to decrease both. I have lots of tools in my box that help me live a balanced life today. I meditate everyday, journal, I talk to people, most important for me is a show myself self care. I also have given myself a purpose of volunteering and helping others. This has hugely helped take the focus off of me and onto others.
If I could leave you with one thought, the biggest gift you can give someone else is the gift that has been so freely given to you. Love, hope and kindness.
Thanks so much Lisa for participating in the emerging blogger series!
