Weekend Wrap-Up

Weekend wrap-up

wrapping paper, ribbon, and twine

Here’s what happened in my life over the past week:

  • Thanks so much to Maja of Lampelina for nominating me for the Liebster award!
  • I started on one of my grasping at straws medication options – pramipexole, which is a medication normally used for Parkinson’s disease.  If this doesn’t turn out to be helpful, the next straw to suck on will be minocycline, an antibiotic that also has an anti-inflammatory effect in the brain.  I’m also going to start taking turmeric supplements, since it’s an anti-inflammatory.  And rather conveniently, I’ve found a supplement that combines turmeric with omega-3 fatty acids (also anti-inflammatory) in one jumbo capsule  Bring it on, everything up to and including the kitchen sink.
  • I’m still mostly housebound because I’m extremely slowed down.
  • I cut down a little on the amount of reading I do, which made it easier to get a bit of writing done.
  • I have a woodpecker that roosts on my balcony year-round.  Last spring he found a lady friend, but she has a separate roost.  I hadn’t seen her since the fall, but this week she came by for a visit.

As guests on my blog this week, I had two emerging bloggers:

How has your week been?

  1. Congrats on the award! That’s fun 🙂

I hope this straw works… and that you don’t have to go all the way to the kitchen sink. 💚

I enjoy these weekend wrap-ups you do. Maybe I could try something similar. Weekend update? SNL vibes… I’ll think of a title. 🙂

  2. My week has been a good week consider I have a bit of a moment longing for a fur baby to touch, or hold.

I hope what you are trying helps.

  3. I hope the supplements work, you will have to let us know how the turmeric works out. I have been trying to find other Anti-inflammatory options.

  4. refreshing to read you are trying the tumeric. in my culture, it has been known to be a “natural antibiotic” so i am intrigued to know how you journey on with it. (: whilst you have cut down a little bit on reading, i have just picked up a novel today after months of not reading. i hope your new week goes well.💜

  5. Woodpeckers would make perfect stars for a headache commercial with how they slam their head into every surface. We tend to interpret their appearance as an invitation to peck below the surface of things to find that which will nourish us. A pair of them sounds like a double or complementary invite!

It is well before dawn here, and we are skulking the house for the irksome, aberrant smoke detector 🥱😡

    1. Luckily this particular brand of woodpeckers don’t do a lot of noisy pecking; mostly they peck into the ground for their meals. What they do like to do is peck on my barbeque for a few minutes each morning during mating season, presumably to mark their territory. Nature is such a fascinating thing!

Ugh, smoke detectors can be so annoying!

  6. I hope you feel better soon 💖 Here for you always. I hope that thar medication will help you. I’m a bit tired but I enjoy spending time with a friend.

  7. I hope the meds will work. Lovely company of the woodpeckers! Turmeric seems to be good. I used to make some soymilk mixed with turmeric which gives it a ‘yellow’ color. Fun to start the day.
I’ve been sleeping badly because of stress and because of clenching/grinding my teeth during the night. So I’ll need to go to the dentist to resolve that problem.
Without the good sleep, it’s a bit grey in my head. I hope it’s not going to go all down hill. The dentist appointment is the 10th of February.
Sending many hugs and good vibes! I hope your weekend was a bit ok and that the week ahead can bring some relief.
