Weekend wrap-up series

Weekend wrap-up

wrapping paper, ribbon, and twine

Here’s what happened in my life over the past week:

  • Yesterday I was walking to the grocery store, and a group of elderly women went speeding on by me.  This psychomotor retardation (slowing of movement) has been really persistent.  According to my bullet journal it’s been going on for the last two months.
  • I didn’t work at all this week.  I was able to get a fair bit of writing down despite being kind of spacey.
  • I was trying to take a selfie to use as a new author photo, and that was quite the frightening experience.  It’s weird, I don’t care in the slightest what I look like when I leave the house, but snapping a closeup headshot brings out all the imperfections that I generally don’t even notice.  Anyway, after doing a full face of makeup and some retouching I came up with something I was satisfied with.  And now I roll my eyes in disgust at myself that I made such a big fuss over the whole thing.
  • I went to yoga for the first time in a while.
  • My Reese’s peanut butter chip cookies last week were so good I decided to bake some more this week.
  • I got some new socks.  I love cozy new socks.  In the same order from Amazon I had ordered some camisoles with a built-in shelf bra type situation going on.  They were from a Chinese seller.  This is significant because I don’t think they’re familiar with the body shape of a 40-year-old North American woman carrying a lot of psych med weight.  I don’t know how to explain it exactly, but the bosom receptacle in these camis was in quite a different spot from where my girls live.  Oh well. at least I can laugh at myself.
  • I got an email from my mom for the first trip since my failed trip two weeks ago when I turned around and came right back home.  The only thing she had to say was that she’d seen a family of quail run by the window.  Um, okay then.  I guess I’m, not the only one who’s avoidant.

I got followed by the most fascinating blog name I’ve come across so far:

Screen shot of new follower: "You think Bron is waking up, and he ain't have no Taco Tuesdays?"

This week on Medium, I published:

How has your week been?

psych meds made simple

My first book, Psych Meds Made Simple: How & Why They Do What They Do, is now available on Amazon as an ebook or paperback.  It’s everything you didn’t realize you wanted to know about medications!

  1. Struggling with psychomotor retardation for so long must be very difficult for you. Well done with your writing! 🙂 And I so agree with you about bed time being the best time of the day. 😀 It’s good you have some cookies to munch on. 🙂

  2. You know, I could give a rats butt what I look like when I go out to the store, or anywhere for that matter. However, a couple of weeks back when I got my hair done, my roommate’s sister told me to take a pic for the salons instagram site. I fussed like an idiot… Same result, afterwards I looked like clown.
You had me laugh so hard when sharing what it’s like to bra shop for a 40-year-old medicated woman. Good lord, I thought I was the only one tht had this issue… Seriously, my weight has been a real issue since meds came into the damn picture. Not fair!!!
What can be done about the slow movement? Are you still seeing the doctor about it?

    1. The movement thing is part of the depression. Usually it resolves faster than this. I could increase the dose of my stimulant, but don’t want to given I was having psychotic symptoms not all that long ago. So it just kind of is what it is.

  3. I too love new socks!! I have the same problem you had with the bras, but with socks: I have huge feet, and standard women’s socks are about half as big as I need! I finally started buying men’s socks! And they do make some gorgeous colorful ones! Go figure!

The best way to take a selfie is with a chat cam positioned above your computer monitor! That way, you’re sitting at your computer, and the camera is angled downward, which eliminates any double chin and other flaws!! Doing it with a handheld camera can indeed be disastrous! Yikes!

Your mother saw some quail? I’m sorry she didn’t have anything else to say! Geez, Mom! Sigh.

My week has been rather odd, but as usual, I don’t remember any specifics! Sickness, though. I finally recovered from some food poisoning, and now I’ve got a cold. I feel dreadful. Wiped out.

Great job doing all that writing on Medium!!

  4. Omg, I had the same experience trying to buy a similar item from a Chinese seller, it was like they thought I was a 12-year old child, lol! Sorry you’re having those other issues, but all in all, your weekend sounds pretty good!

  5. When I put photos of myself on my blogs, I don’t care about how I look. I get only nice comments if people do notice my photos. But people mostly focus on my writing. You are naturally pretty. I never buy clothes from amazon for myself because the sizing can be way off. I always get clothes that could only fit a child
