Working On Us – Week #8

illustration of a brain encircled by the words mental health matters

It’s week #8 of the Working On Us mental health prompt series from Beckie’s Mental Mess.  You can visit her post to see the guidelines for participating.

I’m feeling a bit un-creative today, but I’ll give the photo prompts a go.

Photo #1:

Aah, cleansing, refreshing rain.

This looks like a rather pretty version of rain.  We don’t get pretty rain where I live.  And usually sunny means dry.  So I guess the juxtaposition of rain and sun shows that brightness can turn up in unexpected ways.

Rainbow Above The Flower FieldPhoto #2

This photo annoys me a bit.  Why would a rainbow be a problem for me?  My issue is that the stripes of colour in the field don’t match the colour order in the rainbow.  Why should I care?  I probably shouldn’t, but it bugs me – because I’m a crotchety old coot, not because I’m “OMG, like, so OCD”.

  1. You know. I saw alot of people blogging on mental health lately and at first i thought well maybe it’s just a come and go kind of thing BUT then i did my homework and realized omg mental health is sooooooo real so last night i decided to write about it. If you get a moment I’d like if you to give it a read and tell me your thoughts. I titled it. “Why is mental health so taboo”?

  2. Hey there, Ashley! Sorry, the rainbow picture peeved you. I sincerely hope that I didn’t flare up any anxiety by looking at it. Canada never experiences a sun shower, really? We get them occasionally and I love them, then again, that usually means more humidity, and I’m not to keen on that. LOL!
Thank you so much for participating in Week #8 Prompt #2 of “Working on Us” I so greatly appreciate your feedback. 💚

      1. So, you really have that miserable rain, that’s awful. This is one of the reasons I don’t head West. LOL!
Actually, we have had two years of rainy seasons, not all with sunshowers mind you. However, I really don’t mind the rain all that much… It calms me most of the time. 😊

  3. I love how you made the distinction between being “an old coot” vs the flippant use of OCD.
Because I am a cantankerous “get off my lawn” biddy, I get peeved when people use real mental health issues in the way you quoted. Not that you were… okay, I’ll be quiet now🤐😂

  4. The colors bother me, too! It doesn’t make sense. To my mind, having all of the colors match and having those colors in the proper order is important. However, I can’t think why it’s important.
