321 Quote Me – Optimism

sun shining over dark clouds

Thanks to Rory from A Guy Called Bloke and K9 Doodlepip for tagging me in his 321 Quote Me series, on the topic of optimism.

Rory’s guidelines:

  • Thank the Selector
  • Post 2 quotes for the dedicated Topic of the Day.
  • Select 3 bloggers to take part in ‘3.2.1 Quote Me!’
  • Please Note l will be reblogging your responses unless you wish for me to NOT do so.

I went to Goodreads to search for some quotes on optimism, and a lot of them came from Roy T. Bennett.  I don’t actually know who he is, but the cynic in me is suspicious of anyone that optimistic.

“The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds; and the pessimist fears this is true.”
― James Branch Cabell, The Silver Stallion

“It’s snowing still,” said Eeyore gloomily.
“So it is.”
“And freezing.”
“Is it?”
“Yes,” said Eeyore. “However,” he said, brightening up a little, “we haven’t had an earthquake lately.”
― A.A. Milne

I’m not going to tag anyone specifically, but feel free to join in the fun!

    I also love Eeyore.

Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz talks about “Jewish optimism” which he defines as believing this is “the worst of all possible worlds in which it is still possible to hope.”
