So You Know

Revenge of Eve So you know

It’s time for this week’s So You Know (SYK) over at Revenge of Eve.

This week’s questions:

  • Do you have a hobby? If so, what is it?
  • How did you discover your interest in your hobby?
  • Do you find having a hobby helps with maintaining your mental wellness? How so?
  • Where do you find materials for staying active with your hobby?
  • Have you ever considered monetizing your hobby? Or if you already do, do you still enjoy it as a hobby?

My answers:

  • Do you have a hobby? If so, what is it?  Blogging
  • How did you discover your interest in your hobby?  The idea popped into my head and when I tried it out I was hooked.
  • Do you find having a hobby helps with maintaining your mental wellness? How so?  I’m not sure how much having a hobby per se is helpful, but blogging definitely has a positive effect on my mental health.
  • Where do you find materials for staying active with your hobby?  No materials required other than my laptop.
  • Have you ever considered monetizing your hobby? Or if you already do, do you still enjoy it as a hobby?  I’m looking for ways to possibly make some income, but I would never want to sacrifice my purpose with my blog in order to try to make money.

Please feel free to join in!

And as another so you know, I’ve added two new members to my family, Peanut and Butternut!

Well, I guess blogging started out as a hobby then blossomed into something more. Right now my hobby is Diamond Art “Painting” which is kind of like paint by number with jewels, or gems. I found it on Facebook and was hooked from my first order. I have completed two and I’m almost done with a third. I have considered making them as art for my house, gifts, and possibly as a fundraiser for my PKD organization. The materials are all provided in the kits. Yes, it feeds my creative side, gives me something else to do when I’m not writing that feels like a reward. Additionally, when I do it, I can either listen to an audiobook, or watch one of my series on Hulu or Netflix, so I’m killing two birds in essence. When I’m done, I have created something beautiful and that helps my mental outlook tremendously. 🙂

Thanks for sharing. These are a good set of questions, I might have to participate although I’m not the greatest at sticking to a hobby, except for writing. I consider my writing more than a hobby but what really defines that? Good job keeping up the blogging?

My hobby is blogging and doing all things graphics.

I blog for catharsis—feeling summarily dismissed, silenced, and left unheard after my my husband ghosted after 29 years of marriage. Poof! Gone! It happens …

On a brighter note, when I’m not doing my writing, I dabble in my other addiction: illustrating any and all kinds of ‘stuff’. Stuff like snippets, quotes, you name it.

I ooh and ahhh over stock images and save them to my favorites ‘just because’. Later I like to pair them with quotes and make both pithy and humorous memes. I love finding just the right graphic to match the verbiage. I have waaaay too drives full of them. Why do I this? No reason, I just love it. It’s like painting to an artist.

No, I haven’t considered monetizing because it’s just something I do. I have a whopping 2 followers on my blog because, frankly, mining the humor and laughing about such serious subject matter as taking your life back after narcissistic abuse and coming to grips with the fact you’ve been dumped with Medicare on the horizon isn’t a topic that Joe Average wants to read. LOL.

Currently, I’m like a person emerging from The Witness Protection Program [I hid in shame for way too long]. I’m new here and just finding my way around Reader. I’m trying to find others to engage with and read/support their blogs.

Truly a hobbyist, but FINALLY enjoying life again.

    Be Well,
    Reign
